I really don't have a leg to stand on in this argument as I don't have a clue about the NFL but here's the way I see it anyway. If you rate toughness in terms of danger of serious injury then I would think that the NFL is far more dangerous. You've got guys hitting you from various, unexpected angles and probably from places where you might not even see them coming. I would imagine that this could lead to a relatively higher risk of things like spinal injury. This risk would be amplified by the fact that there are no weight divisions and the guy flying into you with bad intentions could be significantly bigger than you and you could also be hit by more than one person at the same time from different heights and angles. I would be way too scared to play American Football.

If you look at it in terms of having to dig deep within in yourself to find out how far you can go then surely MMA must be tougher. I see it as safer in terms of life threatening injuries due to the safety provided by weight divisions but far tougher in terms of what it takes to win. MMA athletes train harder and have to master a greater body of knowledge which they have to integrate into their games to a point where complex series of reactions become automatic.

My conclusion is that while the NFL may be more dangerous, MMA is far tougher. Any one doubting this should just watch the last fight between Frankie Edgar and Grey Maynard or Wanderlei Silva VS Cung le or Dan henderson VS Shogun Rua. The list goes on and on.

I have lived in both, its pretty much the same. If your standing between 2 tall buildings the sun dont shine no matter where your at. NY is a little more polluted. I am used to it though i'm a city boy, grew up in the city (not the burbs) As far as the women, i never noticed any difference, But i only dated gorgeous women so i pretty much dont notice average or fugly women. And hey, if she could carry on a conversation that's a PLUS- but not a requirement. If you think Chicago or New york suck- Go spend a month in Boston and you will be glad to get back to either. And both citys have good food
